This check was deliberately built to minimise data. It runs entirely in your browser. The questions and answers are contained in the page's own code; when you select an answer, the result is calculated locally on your device.
No external scripts are embedded. When you close the page, your run is gone. We cannot reconstruct it or attribute it to any person.
So that we know whether this tool is needed at all and which cases arise in practice, we count a number of events. Only aggregated daily counters are stored – for selected events and for broad technical and statistical categories. For instance “on 2 August the check was started 47 times and ended 12 times with the deepfake result”.
The counter values allow no conclusions about individual people. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in developing this free service in line with actual need. For this anonymous usage count, no cookies are set and no information is stored on or read from your device; no cookie banner is required for it. Technically necessary server logs are described separately below. The daily counters are deleted after 400 days.
When the website is accessed, technically necessary server data may arise at the hosting provider, for example IP address, time of access, file requested and user agent. This data is processed by the hosting provider. The log files are rotated daily; at most ten rotated files are kept. The data is therefore deleted after eleven days at the latest. It is not analysed by Mimikama and not combined with other data. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website.
The website is hosted by PureHost, which acts as a processor within the meaning of Article 28 GDPR.

The decision logic of the check does not process your answers on our servers. However, technically necessary server logs may arise at the hosting provider when the website is accessed.
